[Review] After Death by Dean Koontz

A very interesting premise and reliably good writing. However, even though I generally like Koontz, this book was not a favorite.

There were some places with good detail, but others that felt overburdened. The start was slow—I didn't start getting into the book until around halfway in; and, now that I've finally finished it, I couldn't even tell you what happened in the first quarter of the book. And, in general, the story felt a bit disjointed to me—too many different side stories going on at once.

Good, but not great.

Favorite Quote: Simple pleasures are no less pleasurable than costlier pursuits. Pleasure is all in the heart, a matter of delight rather than dollars. A faithful dog can provide more joyful moments than a yacht. It’s only envy, a sickness of the mind, that causes disdain of simple things and greatly overvalues extravagance.
