[Review] It's Watching by Lindsay Currie

Yes! This book was mysterious and creepy with some serious ghost-story vibes. Set during Halloween and perfect for the Halloween season. I loved the hauntingly atmospheric details which imparted a great sense of unease and tension throughout. This book succeeds in actually feeling like a ghost story.

[Review] The Misfits #1: A Royal Conundrum by Lisa Yee

A fun and adventurous romp, where the underdogs are the heroes! There's oodles of mystery, adventure, cool gadgets/tech and a whole lot of cavorting capers. Fast pace and plot driven. Plenty of diverse characters. And good overarching messages about not judging people based on their skin color, age, or gender.

Let me first say that I love Diana Wynne Jones. Howl's Moving Castle is one of my all-time favorite books. The magic and whimsy is utterly enchanting. This book, while beautifully written, is a very different book.

Very solid, tight, clean writing—which makes me giddy with joy. This book is fast paced and completely engaging. I was quickly swept up in the story and ended up reading the whole book in a single sitting.

[Review] Between Monsters and Marvels by Alysa Wishingrad

Fantastic. This is one of the most atmospheric books that I've read in a long time. I got a full sense of the squalor and decay that is prevalent in every home, every business, and every street of the region—from the decaying wallpaper, to the dust and soot, to the threadbare clothes. Great world building.
