I finished this book a few days ago, but I've been putting off writing a review because I don't know how I feel about it...still. On the one hand, I found it slow and kind of boring. On the other, it was visually impactful and interesting in its cultural relevance. I liked the moments of magical realism, but they were far fewer than the numerous christian references. And while I wouldn't call this book pro-church, I still felt bogged down by all the religious elements.

Wow. This book was intense. Deep and thought provoking. Diverse and introspective characters. Beautiful, vivid writing that presents readers with a unique juxtaposition of science and poetry.

This is one of those book that you read and by the end all your mind can think is Wow! This book has power.

Part short story anthology, part bestiary. This book was quite experimental in format and very literary/academic in content.
