A fantastic debut novel. This book has so much Halloween-inspired fun. It is very reminiscent of The Nightmare Before Christmas both in tone and quirkiness. Fully developed characters that led to a tear-jerker of an ending.

Another great novel by Karen Strong. This book is filled with so many of the things I love: ghosts, Halloween, diverse characters, a celebration of differences, a heartwarming message of acceptance, and a loving nod to family and friends.

A frighteningly fun read! By the end of the first chapter I was so ready to move to Samhain and completely immerse myself in the city's magical Halloween vibes and mingle with the quirky residents.

Fun conceptually, but the stories were hit or miss for me. The overall tone of the book is quite defeatist and pessimistic—there's some pretty dark social commentary here, making it hard to see the humor that the synopsis promised.

This was a fun, quick read, with cliff-hanger chapters that really propelled the story forward. An interesting and believable protagonist and a truly horrid antagonist that frustrated the hell out of me and made me root even harder for the main character.
