Nonfiction is a huge category in literature. It encompasses any writing that provides information—historical, scientific, empirical, instructional, etc. This can anything from memoirs to cookbooks to scientific journals and anything in between.

[Review] Power to the Parasites! by Chelsea L. Wood

Based on the cover of the book, I thought this would be a bit of a light read with intriguing factoids, but this was a surprisingly well-researched compilation of information on parasites. Disconcerting, but very educational. As a cat owner, I was a particular fan of the Toxoplasma gondii parasite. Fascinating!

[Review] Prehistoric Worlds by Ashley Hall

Lots of interesting scientific information. Everything is well presented. The layout is nicely spaced, allowing for easy visual navigation through the pages. And the whole book is packed with compelling photographs and illustrations. I even loved the pronunciation guide in the back of the book—a handy addition for grappling those long, scientific names.

[Review] Secret Stories of Nature by Saskia Gwinn

A good introductory book to natural history, geared towards middle grade readers. This book presents a lot like a textbook, with the material all appropriately fact-based. As with most textbooks, there's good information within, but it's quite slow and dry.
