[Review] Wish by Barbara O'Connor
I never knew there were so many way to make a wish! Sweet and hopeful, but with darker undercurrents of parental neglect.

A sweet story about family and community with an underlying message about the power of kindness. This feels a bit like contemporary fiction for a middle grade audience—regular people, living their regular lives, while trying to make the most of a bad situation. It felt slow in places and overly saccharine in others, but the writing was solid.

Such a fun and cute holiday read. This book is a celebration of both Hanuka and Christmas. It is a nod to adoption. It is an exploration of family. And it is a reminder not to let fears stop you from living your best life. Be brave and flourish!

Spellbinding. This book was instantly engaging and held my attention throughout. There is great character development, lots of suspense and tension, disability representation, and there's even a fun sprinkling of Shakespeare quotes.

Hearth wrenching and astute. This classic is a powerful and moving commentary on the painful effects of bullying. It is also a reminder that even standing by and doing nothing is a form of silently condoning the action.

A fun, escape room mystery. Very plot-based with lots of cute problem solving. There's also a good, overarching message about friendship and perseverance—trying your best, no matter the situation.

Wow. What just happened?! I picked up this book earlier today and ending up spending the whole day reading it cover to cover because I couldn't put it down.

A quick read that will really appeal to cat people. For anyone who has ever owned a cat, Mehitabel's antics will resonate as distinctly feline. She is precious and quintessentially cat.

Oh. My. Goodness. So good! I seldom read books start to finish in the same day, but I couldn't put this one down.

This is one of those books that you finish and all you can think is “Wow!” because you're at a complete loss for words.
