[Review] Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya (1972)

I finished this book a few days ago, but I've been putting off writing a review because I don't know how I feel about it...still. On the one hand, I found it slow and kind of boring. On the other, it was visually impactful and interesting in its cultural relevance. I liked the moments of magical realism, but they were far fewer than the numerous christian references. And while I wouldn't call this book pro-church, I still felt bogged down by all the religious elements.

Good writing. Good cultural representations. Just slow and too heavy on themes that are a bit off-putting to me.
