The use of suspense and tension in this book is masterful. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. There are even some deep and thought-provoking moments. And I admittedly love it when a book makes me think and wonder.
I've read a handful of Koontz books, most of which I have enjoyed, but is one of my favorites.
That being said, there was something weird about the book that I found rather jarring. There were several references to autism which seem more likely to be referencing shock and/or PTSD. I'm not a medical professional, but the use of an “autism” label felt decidedly wrong given the child and the situation.
