[Review] The City by Dean Koontz

Well written and intriguing, with dynamic and diverse characters and a city filled with a rich and vibrant history.

The narrator in this one is particularly fascinating. His young age (9 years old) lends a unique level of mystery to the story. Are supernatural events occurring or is the narrator unreliable—simply doing his best to make sense of the world, despite his limited worldview. Quite compelling.

This book did feel a bit on the slow side for me. And given its length, it felt like a particularly hefty read. This one is probably best tackled when in the mood for something slow and pondersome.
