[Review] Old Man's War (Old Man's War, book 1) by John Scalzi

I picked up this book on a whim, knowing that I like Scalzi's writing style, but also aware that war, military, and politics are not subjects that I'm a particular fan of. That being said, I have a whole new appreciation for Scalzi. His character development is so good, and his story so much about what it means to be human, that I was thoroughly engrossed in the content. It takes a lot of finesse to write a story where content that is not normally of interest to the reader is suddenly compelling. Respect.

Very conversational tone that feels natural and unforced. Clean, without much fluff—everything that's there is there to move the story forward. Great worldbuilding. Great character development. And a lovely study on the human condition.
