[Review] Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun by Jonny Garza Villa

Published on 24 July 2023 at 12:13

This was a great LGBTQIA+ romance. Cute and upbeat, while still being deep and impactful. Villa does a great job of capturing the harsh reality of growing up gay in an unaccepting household. Still, the tone remains consistently hopeful.

The characters are diverse and unique. The writing and dialogue is familiar. It feels completely authentic and unforced—very on-point for the characters—making for a quick and engaging read.

Note: I read this one with Whispersync. The narrator, Avi Roque, was absolutely fantastic. The character voices and accents were delightful. If you have a chance to get this one on audio or Whispersync, it's very much worth it.

Favorite Quote: ...I exist so deeply in the closet, I could be in Narnia by now.

Genres: Romance, LGBTQIA+
