[Review] Elantris: Tenth Anniversary Special Edition by Brandon Sanderson

Wow. What a great book. I was a bit intimidated going into this, because of the length, but the story turned out to be a good one. Very well-developed characters and exceptional world building. And apparently this was Sanderson's debut novel! I never would have guessed.

There are a lot of politics and religious maneuverings in this book, so there were times when the pacing felt a bit slow, as those aspects were being developed. However, I was fascinated by everything that occurred inside the actual city of Elantris, from the characters, to the architecture, to the decay, to the broken system of magic. It was all very compelling. And even now that I'm done, I want more.

A very good epic fantasy, with a lot of relevant commentary on religion, human nature, and the corrupting influence of power.
